Cumberland Hotel – Marble Arch – London

2:30pm and I arrive at Siwon’s hotel after leaving school. With two friends, one who isn’t a major kpop fan (has to leave within an hour anyway) and another who is as excited as me to be at Siwon’s hotel.

Fans coming in and out of the hotel but I and my friend go inside and sit on some chairs in the lounge area, with a good view of the front two doors. A lot of groups of fans have been kicked out of the hotel… 5:30pm and we hear screaming from outside and immediately jump up and walk over to Siwon and towards the lifts- Siwon’s destination. He runs across the lobby with a cute smile on his face, and then “Siwon oppa! Saranghae!” He smiles and gets into a lift and waves to the small group of us who are inside with him.

I decide to stay in the hotel, in the hope that he will come downstairs again to either go out, because it is early and it is his last night here, or to maybe take pictures with us. All other fans have been kicked out as far as we are aware, and we are sitting patiently. 7:50pm and we are sitting in a sofa-pod-thing with the lifts straight ahead of us, and I see Siwon and his manager and say to my friend: “He’s there. Is that him? Oh my god it’s him!” We get up and walk over to Siwon smiling and waving. We say hello and he smiles, and I hold up my camera as if to ask him for a picture and his manager makes a sort of “no we have to go” signal to me. Siwon however, walks even closer to me, and then is standing right next to me and my friend and says “Hi girls, I’m really sorry, I cannot take a picture right now. I have to rush out – I’m sorry, we will meet again I promise”, and with that, he grabs my hand with his soft and gentle hand and with a tight grip, squeezes my hand, and stares deep into my eyes, with a loving, yet saddened face, because he can’t give me a picture. I say “Okay oppa thank you so much kamsahamnida! Saranghae!” And he smiles and let’s go of my hand and walks away and waves at us as he then walks out into the madness that awaits him outside as he is rushed to the taxi waiting for him outside the hotel.

Saturday 28^th January 2012

10:09am and I’m with a small group of people outside the hotel – we have been kicked out and we have been here since 7am. Siwon suddenly comes out the door right next to us and he walks by and smiles and waves and gets straight into a car that is waiting for him.

10:50am and I am inside, and Siwon comes back into the hotel and I walk over to him and walk fastly with him to the lift. I shout “Siwon oppa saranghae!” and he smiles and waves and the lift closes.

12:16am we have just been kicked out of the hotel again and so we stand outside the door waiting to send him off as he has just checked out of the hotel. Staff have taken his suitcases to the car outside, so we know he is coming. We sing “Sorry Sorry” as we wait for him whilst he is stuck in the middle of the hotel’s revolving doors. Everyone is happy and he comes out and walks through the walkway we made, and he puts his hand out to mine and I say “Oppa I love you!” and he giggles and then we all follow him to his car and he gets into a big car and we wave goodbye and “see you soon” to Choi Siwon!
